Khoo Ying Ying

Khoo Ying Ying, majoring in the Saxophone was awarded a four-year-scholarship as she graduated First Class Honours with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at the Education University Sultan Idris under various Saxophone lecturers. She also received a scholarship in an International Student Exchange Programme to the United States of America in East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in music classes such as Saxophone lessons, Composition, Arranging and the Alexandra Technique in music and was Dean listed throughout her Exchange Programme Studies.

Ying Ying started her passion for music since the age of 7 when she started learning the piano and has achieved up till Grade 8 in ABRSM. Her passion grew even more by taking parts in Choir during her primary years in school. She continued in pursuing her passion in music by joining the Military Band in SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian in high school. She was is a versatile instrumentalist as she played the flute, clarinet and drums throughout her years in band. She was also the conductor for the school band as well as the assistant drum major and has been performing in various performances and occasions both indoors and outdoors.

Ying Ying is a versatile instrumentalist who plays the piano, flute, piccolo and saxophone in various music genres. She has performed in the ETSU Jazz Band in a Jazz Concert along with the lead saxophonist, Jay Beckenstein from Spyro Gyra in East Tennessee, USA. She has also performed as a saxoponist in the Wind Orchestra in East Tennessee, USA. Throughout 2016 – 2020, she has also been performing in different performance with the Flute in Symphony Orchestra in University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) as well as playing the Saxophone in Concert Band concerts and Jazz Band performances. In 2017, she was invited as a guest player to play the flute for Methodist Girls School Annual School Concert, Penang. She has also been invited to play the flute in an orchestra for UPSI convocation 2019.

Ying Ying has started teaching piano since 2015 and has been developing her teaching with flute and saxophone up to this day.
