Tariq started his musical journey when he picked up the cello for the first time at the age of 19 back in 2010. He graduated both in Diploma and Bachelor Degree in Music Performance at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). During his time in UiTM, he received his cello lessons under the tutelage of Lian Phooi Wooi (NSO, Co-Principle Cello), Aidil Khaizir (RTM) and Aamil Sulaiman (SSO). He has lead the cello section of UiTM Symphony Orchestra as a cello principle for 2 years and was actively involved in many concerts or events organised by UiTM. He has also studied under Nasran Nawi (NSO, Principle Cello) during his UiTM internship programme at National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and has been a member of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra (NYSO). Tariq has been working in the music industry as a freelance musician since 2011 and has since involved in various concerts, music festivals, and events.
